This impressive model of the Claas Jaguar 960 Forage Harvester from Siku has lots of great detail. It features a folding/lifting Orbis 600 header for maize or wholecrop, a rotating auger, folding mirrors and even a driver in the cab wearing a Class outfit and a tiny fire extinguisher on the roof of the machine! The engine can be seen by lifting the panels on the right and left, and at the back of the forager you can open the rear cover to see the details from a third angle. A turning wheel on the roof enables you to operate the rear axle steering mechanism. This model is produced in die-cast metal and plastic.

The manufacturers recommended age for this model is 3 years plus.

In the full scale farming world the self-propelled Claas Jaguar Forage Harvester is used to harvest maize, grass and wholecrop for the production of silage to feed cattle through the winter months. The Pocket Farming SIK 4058 produced by Siku features a header used for maize and wholecrop but the real machine can also be used for grass with the grass pickup attached instead.

The Claas Jaguar is the most common type of silage harvester in the world, with the first Jaguar having been built in 1973 and the 30,000th built in 2011. This Jaguar has great performance records and was awarded ‘Machine of the Year’ at the Agritechnica 2011 event.

The rear wheel drive feature of this machine enables the operator to keep the header straight, if it was front wheel drive it would turn too tightly for the header to operate. The built in metal and stone detection facility helps to prevent damage to the cutting parts of the harvester and also reduces the risk of metals being incorporated into the silage and the chance of animals digesting them.

The Orbis header achieves an even cut and feed which is important for these types of harvesters, the working speed is adjustable according to forward speed to achieve an even crop flow into the machine.

As with many of the modern machines nowadays the Jagular can have technology enabled on board to monitor moisture, yield, machine output etc. which can be transmitted back to the farm office for review and analysis of the machine's performance.
